The Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall showcases the history of Daebul Hotel, Korea's first Western-style hotel. The Life History Exhibition Hall is where you can learn about the life history of Jung-gu, Incheon in the 1960s and 1970s.
The Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall and the Junggu Living History Hall are located on the museum street where a lot of the themed museums are located. While visiting the museums, you can experience Incheon as it was when it started prospering 100 yearsago.
When purchasing a ticket at the Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall, you can take a tour of the museum at an affordable price by purchasing an integrated ticket for the five halls. The five museums that can be viewed are the Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall,theKorean-Chinese Cultural Center, the Incheon Open Port Modern Architecture Exhibition Hall, the Incheon Open Port Museum, and the Jajangmyeon (Black Bean Noodles) Museum.

Daebul Hotel, Korea's first Western-style hotel
Daebul Hotel was the first hotel in Joseon, where foreigners who entered Korea through Incheon Port after its opening stayed before going to Seoul.
In the Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall, you can learn about the history of the Daebul Hotel and see the recreated hotel rooms. The Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall consists of 3 floors.
On the first floor, you can see the traces of the Daebul Hotel found in its ruins. You can guess the architectural style from the remaining traces. You can appreciate the historical timeline of the hotel through the historical details and videos, fromitsbeginning as the Daebul Hotel to Junghwaru (Chinese restaurant) and finally its demolition.
On the second floor, you can see the recreated Daebul Hotel rooms. Along with Daebul Hotel, there are also exhibits related to the operations, usage fees, and services provided by other hotels and inns in Incheon at that time. The modern items on display,suchas antique furniture, teaware, coffee makers, and tableware, create a stylish atmosphere.
Daebul Hotel was the first Western-style hotel and the first place in Korea to serve coffee. As a result, there are many cafes selling coffee on the streets of the open port in renovated modern buildings that imitate wooden buildings and red brickwarehousesfrom 100 years ago.
The third floor is a space that reproduces a banquet hall. In the past, banquet halls were said to have been a social venue for food and music.
Currently, the Daebul Hotel exhibition hall uses a banquet hall as a special exhibition hall, and rents it to citizens or groups who want to hold seminars, lectures, and exhibitions. Outside the banquet hall, you can take a commemorative photo whilevirtuallywearing retro costumes and dresses using a virtual fitting machine.

The Life History Exhibition Hall is an exhibition hall where you can get a glimpse of the everyday and cultural life of Incheon citizens in the 1960s and 1970s, especially around 1968, when Jung-gu, Incheon was founded. In addition to exhibitions,thehall sells unique cultural products, and operates a cafe and photo studio. The Life History Exhibition Hall consists of three floors: the basement level, the 1st floor, and the 2nd floor.
The Life History Exhibition Hall can be visited from the back door on the first floor of the Daebul Hotel after viewing the Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall. If you follow the guided path, you will be greeted by the entrance door on the basement floorofthe Life History Exhibition Hall and a subway model. On display is a chronological table showing the history of Jung-gu, Incheon at a glance, from 1968, when Jung-gu, Incheon was founded.
Moving to the first floor, the life history of Jung-gu in the 1960s and 1970s is divided into relational, ceremonial, and main culture. Some of the spaces also sell specialty food and cultural products. You can rent retro costumes such as school uniformsanddresses in the costume rental room, and take a commemorative photo at the photo studio. Barbershops, briquettes, classic cameras, and payphones, with the sentiment of the 1960s and 1970s, create a friendly atmosphere and experience. The streetsthatrecreate the residential environment, such as kitchens and rooms of those days, and market alleys also stimulate nostalgia for the 1960s and 1970s.
On the second floor, you can experience the culture of the 1960s and 1970s at the tavern, theater, and coffee shop. The vinyl albums fill the wall like a coffee shop from those days when music was played on vinyl. The theater has reproduced and displayspostersof popular movies and ticket box offices from the 1970s. If the screening time is right, you can even watch movies from the 70s.
