Entrance to Wolmi Park
A Good Place to Take a Walk
History of Wolmido
Wolmisan Mountain was a place that was restricted for 50 years due to the presence of military units, but was opened to citizens in 2001.
That is why Wolmi Park is famous as an ecological park with a well-preserved natural ecosystem.
There are various kinds of natural plants such as sea pine, wild cherry, and oak; wild animals such as raccoons, squirrels, and elk; and different types of birds such as the long-tailed tit, great tit, and woodpecker.
Wolmi Forest was a major part of the western powers' battlefront and was the starting point of the Incheon landing operation.
If you look closely at the trees in Wolmi Forest, the young roots have been cut off, and in their place, numerous branches have grown, forming a large tree.
The trees also show war-related wounds, such as chopped branches, split trunks, and debris from bombs lodged in the roots.
You can see the trees that have become stronger and more beautiful as they overcame the pains of war, and learn the lessons that nature and history have to offer.
전통정원 안내도
There is a Korean traditional garden that was created according to the park development plan when Wolmi Park was opened.
It consists of a palace garden, a separate garden, and a private family garden.
In the Palace Garden, you can find the Buyongji pond of Changdeokgung Palace; Aeyeonji pond which is full of lotus flowers; Amisan Chimney and Hwagye (eared pheasant); and in the private garden there are various attractions such as Yangjindang andthatched houses, artificial ponds, streams, and rice paddies in traditional architectural style.
