Museum of Korean Emigration History

Museum of Korean Emigration HistoryThe overseas achievements and pioneering spirit of our emigrant ancestors

The Museum of Korea Emigration History
Exchanges with foreign countries are extensive these days, but it was difficult to exchange with foreign countries a hundred years ago when the only available means of transportation was by boat. Incheon, which was Korea's first maritime exchange center, is the starting point of the first official emigration.
The emigration history of Korea begins with the first official emigrants leaving for Hawaii in 1902.
In the museum's exhibition room, you can see the model of the ship "Gallic", which left for Hawaii at the time, as well as the pains of our ancestors, who lived harder and with more determination than anyone else.
You can see the long and difficult journey of emigrants who left for Hawaii, the hard labor of sugar cane farms, the process of settling in Hawaii, the activities of the ancestors who devoted themselves to national liberation, and the current situation and hopes of overseas Koreans throughout four exhibition rooms.
Purpose of Establishing The Museum of Korea Emigration History
At the Museum of Korean Emigration History, you can see the proud ancestors who worked hard for the independence of Korea even while living their own difficult lives.
It is an important place to explore the history of emigration and learn how to be a pioneer.
