The Incheon Port Lock Gate is the first in Korea and the largest in Asia.
It was created to overcome the difference between the immense tides off the coast of Incheon.
The embankment was piled to build the inner harbor of Incheon, and the lock gate was built as a structure that helps ships to enter the port.
The structure that connects the outer and inner ports of Incheon Port is the Incheon Port Lock Gate.
When the vessel is on standby at the outer port, the water level is adjusted to open the water gate on the outer port side, and when the vessel enters, the water door is closed again to set the water level, and then the water door on the inner port is opened to allow the vessel to enter.

When you visit the Lock Gate Promotion Hall, you can learn about the principle of the lock gate through various experiences, such as watching videos, at the exhibition hall on the 4th floor.
In the outdoor park on the 4th floor, you can enjoy the view of the Incheon Port Lock Gate and the ships passing through it.
From the 5th floor observatory, you can take in the panoramic view of the lock gate and the inner port, and you can enjoy distant views through a telescope.

Once a year, on Children's Day in May, the lock gate is open to the general public.
Within the lock gate landscape area, families can take a break and watch large cargo ships and passenger ships passing through the lock gate.
It is a new experience through which you can see surprisingly huge ships, container boxes, and various items scheduled for export.
