City cultural property resource No. 16

The House of Jo Byeong-su House is a typical middle-class house set on an island in the middle of the West Sea.
It consists of two buildings, the outer building and the main building, and forms the shape of an "L".
It resembles a square shape with an open corner. In front of the main building, there is a narrow porch at 3 spaces in length in the front and 1.5 spaces in length on the side, and with this in the center, toward the west is the main room, its lengthrunning north to south for 2 spaces.
Toward the east is another room of about 1 space. In front of it, a higher porch was set and a space was made in the back to construct a closet.
In front of the main room, a spacious kitchen whose sides run for 2 spaces was created, and the ceiling on the side of the kitchen toward the main room was lowered to create an attic space to be accessed from the main room.
This kind of floor plan configuration for houses was typically found in the central area of Gyeonggi and Chungcheong provinces.
Another unique characteristic of this housing type is that the upper central part of the main gate has an octagonal lattice window.
