Seonyeo (Fairy) Rock

Seonyeo (Fairy) RockThe 3rd scenic spot of Yongyu, a rock with a sad legend

Seonnyeobawi (Seonnyeo Rock)
There are many strange and large rocks on Fairy Rock beach, which is located on the way to Eulwangri Beach.
Among the many rocks, on top of one that reaches out of the ocean, is the Seonnyeo Rock (Fairy Rock).
The sharp rock formation blends well with the scenery of the sea, and the waves that gently break into the rocks create an excellent view.
It is a place where many tourists come to be lost in their thoughts, and to enjoy the sunset.
In the small marina behind Fairy Rock, small and old fishing boats and fishermen come together to create the simple and atmospheric scenery resembling a rural fishing village.
Beautiful Scenery of Seonnyeobawi (Seonnyeo Rock)
There is a sad legend about the Fairy Rock that has been passed down for generations.
There was a commander who oversaw the naval forces of Yeongjongjin, and he had a romantic affair.
When the relationship ended, the mistress threw herself into the ocean from a rock called Taepyeong of Yeongjongjin.
No one collected her body, which floated on the ocean, until the commander felt regret and buried her body.
After that, the Taepyeong Rock, from which the mistress threw herself into the ocean, was called Fairy Rock, because on a clear night, fairies come down on a rainbow to that place to play.
It is also said that because the shape of the rock looks like a woman praying, if you make a wish in front of that rock, it will come true.
Seonnyeobawi Beach
Fairy Rock Beach is a charming place where you can see the Fairy Rock and other strange rocks from the beach.
This place has an open sea and is relatively quieter and calmer than other beaches.
It is also good to enjoy this place as you explore the nearby famous Eulwangri and Wangsan beaches.
It will be an even more perfect experience for you if you see the Fairy Rock, the 3rd view of Yongyu, and enjoy the beautiful sunset.
