Bukseong-dong Jajangmyeon (black noodles)

Incheon is home to the “original” jjajangmyeon, which is loved by all of the people of Korea.
After opening the port, the residential area for Qing people was established and their cuisine began to spread.
At the time, the Qing people tried to make delicious foods that could be sold at low prices and that were easy to eat for the laborers working at the port. Eventually, a dish was created that mixed the noodles in a sautéed soybean paste, and it was called jjajangmyeon.
The first restaurant to sell the noodles with the name of jjajangmyeon was known as Gonghwachun.
It opened in 1905, and the site of the restaurant still remains until today. It was turned into the Jjajangmyeon Museum in 2012.
