Starting Point of Korea’s Railroad

The Gyeongin Line (Seoul-Incheon), Korea’s first railroad, opened on September 18, 1899, to connect the 21-mile distance between Incheon and Noryangjin, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held on March 22, 1897.
After that, with the completion of the Hangang River Railroad Bridge, all stations of the Gyeongin Line, spanning 26 miles, were opened on July 8, 1900.
This place refers to Dowon Pass, the intersection of the first planned railroad line of Korea (From Dowon Pass to Incheon Girl’s Commercial High School passing the public stadium) and the opened railroad line (same as today).
