A stone Buddha caught in a fishing net

In old times, a fisherman, Mr. Son, lived in Yedanpo of Unmuk village in Yeongjongdo.
One day, he left for Yeonpyeongdo and was fishing for croaker, but suddenly a stone Buddha came up caught in his fishing net.

He threw the stone Buddha away back into the sea.
A few days later, as he was fishing for croaker again, he could not catch any croaker, and the stone Buddha came up again.
He thought, “Well that’s unlucky,” and threw the stone Buddha back into the sea again.
That night, a gray-haired old man showed up in his dream and said that he would catch the stone Buddha again, and that he was to place the stone Buddha at Taepyeongam in Gu-eup, Yeongjongdo.

The next day, as expected, the stone Buddha was caught in his fishing net, so he placed the stone Buddha at Taepyeongam, according to his dream.
After that, the soldiers of Bangeoyeong of Yeongjongdo thought that the stone Buddha was strange and played by shooting arrows at it.
The stone Buddha was holding a bottle of medicine in one hand. But, then at that moment, one of the arms of the stone Buddha was damaged.
The soldiers thus instantly died at that place. The head monk of Baekunsa Temple, who heard the news, visited the place and brought the stone Buddha to the temple.

Since that, many believers came to the temple and prayed to the Stone Buddha.
It was said that if they prayed to the stone Buddha, all of their wishes would come true.
Also, when leaving this temple, visitors were to be polite in a devout frame of mind.
Otherwise, they risked punishment.
The stone Buddha was placed at the temple for a long time, but during the period of Japanese occupation, a head monk Kim was said to have sold it to another monk, after which no one knows where the stone Buddha was taken.
